Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar

If you’re strolling down Wimborne Road in Bournemouth and craving something rustic, handmade, and full of character, Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar might just be your next favourite spot. Tucked away at 406 Wimborne Rd, this women-owned pizzeria doesn’t just serve food-it delivers a full-on experience of what sourdough pizza is supposed to be: crispy, chewy, flavour-packed, and unapologetically authentic.

From the moment you walk through their wheelchair-accessible entrance, you're welcomed into a relaxed, friendly space that’s as perfect for a solo lunch as it is for a casual dinner with friends. Whether you're dining indoors or catching some sunshine on their outdoor patio, Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar feels like a place where time slows down just enough to savour each bite.

Let’s talk pizza-because really, that’s what you came here for.

Their Margherita Pizza is anything but basic. With a perfectly blistered sourdough crust and velvety tomato base, it's the kind of pizza that makes you close your eyes with the first bite. If you're a fan of bold flavours, the Meat Jesus is a no-brainer-stacked with layers of meaty goodness and melty cheese that hit all the right notes. And then there’s the Shrooms Pizza, which takes earthy, roasted mushrooms and turns them into a main event. Add in their Pesto Chicken Pizza for a basil-forward, garlicky kick, or keep it fiery with the ever-popular Pepperoni Pizza, where spice meets tangy tomato in the best way possible.

But Forno isn’t just about pizza. Their Calzone is a pocket of joy-crispy on the outside, with a molten, gooey centre loaded with cheese and fillings that change seasonally. If you’ve got room for dessert (and let’s be honest, you should), the Tiramisu is a must. Rich, creamy, and just boozy enough, it’s the kind of sweet ending that feels like a hug from an Italian nonna.

The beverage game here is strong too. Beer lovers can enjoy a rotating selection of craft and classic brews that pair wonderfully with the pizzas, while those in the mood for something lighter can choose from a range of soft drinks that actually complement the meal instead of overpowering it. Everything is geared toward balancing flavours, not distracting from them.

Accessibility is clearly a priority at Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar. They’ve made sure their entrance, seating, and toilet facilities are all wheelchair-accessible, so everyone feels welcome. And for those who’d rather eat at home, they’ve got all bases covered-offering no-contact delivery, standard delivery, and takeaway options without compromising on quality.

There's something refreshingly down-to-earth about this place. It doesn’t try too hard, but every detail-from the chewy tang of the dough to the comforting flicker of their wood-fired oven-speaks volumes about their commitment to doing things right. They aren’t chasing trends or copying competitors. Instead, Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar sticks to what it knows best: incredible, slow-fermented dough and high-quality ingredients, served in a no-fuss atmosphere that keeps locals coming back.

If you're in Bournemouth and thinking, where can I find a great pizza near me, this spot should be on your radar. Whether you're in the mood for a solo slice or a full-on feast, Forno Sourdough Pizza Bar hits that sweet spot between artisan quality and casual comfort-no pretense, just pizza.

Very friendly, fast service and we ate amazing pizzas. The atmosphere is very sweet. We thank the chef and the waiter very much. We drove 7 minutes because there were no good alternatives in the center and it was worth it.

My partner and I are pizza lovers and we live in Southampton, there is no better pizza around us that compares to this one. Good quality ingredients, plenty of toppings, really reasonable price, friendly staff and great service. Recommend it to anyone and it’s not our first time going either!

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Forno! We recently enjoyed a delightful dinner there and couldn’t be more thrilled. We ordered two 18-inch pizzas for our family of four, and let me tell you, each bite was a taste of perfection! What really stands out is their wood-fired sourdough pizza—it’s a game-changer! The crust is beautifully crispy on the outside while remaining perfectly soft and chewy on the inside. It's the perfect balance of flavors that leaves you feeling satisfied without that heavy, overstuffed feeling afterward. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for families. You’ll leave with memories of delicious food and a desire to return for more! If you're looking for a place that serves incredible pizza and offers a wonderful dining experience, Forno should be at the top of your list. Don’t miss out on this gem—your taste buds will thank you!
